Why I joined TZM

This is an open letter to all those who as of late have been jumping on the "anti-TZM" bandwagon and a response to their typical rhetoric.

First off, I am not, nor have I been in the past, known as a "joiner". Sure, I can work cooperatively with other people or just as well all alone, and for the most part my nature is one of Independence rather then co-dependence. So, I have never been a joiner. Also, I like to know what I am getting into, and if I can't "buy" the whole concept, I won't bother with only parts of it.

As well, it is important to point out certain beliefs and values that I have held, long since before I was aware of TZM or Peter Joseph or Jacque Fresco, etc.

Even though I have studied many of the world's religions (because I believe in dismissing an idea or concept only after having studied it) and none of them (with the possible exception of Buddhists) "actually put their money where their mouth is". They are mostly men dominated, sexist, hypocrites that sell themselves for power and money. Liars, thieves and war mongers. Yeah, I have never had use for religion.

Money, what a frustrating kid I must have been for my parents. Always wondering "why" to everything and especially where money was concerned. Never could figure out why some kid in Africa had to die from starvation because they "didn't have money to buy food". Never made sense to my wee young heart that someone should go cold and hungry for lack of money. I was always willing to share what I had, but my parents tried explaining to me how the world worked, and from my perspective, it did not work very well for most. Not to mention that when I started asking about "national debt" ie, who does Canada owe money to? And who does the US owe money to? and so on, it quickly became self evident that the whole monetary system was fake and not worth pursuing.

Politics, well, I could go on for hours about the corruption and general bullcrap that passes for "democracy", but suffice it to say, I never bought that particular piggy-in-a-blanket, never registered to vote, never bothered getting upset over election results. "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

As for the military, well, never understood the reason for their existence. "Security" from what? How about we don't go around pissing other people off and perhaps we can negate the need for armed services? Just a thought.

So, now that we've established that I have held my views and beliefs for many decades and they are not new to me, or introduced by PJ or JF, but rather, I am finding that those in TZM are indeed the "freaks and weirdos" of their society. They are like me, in that they never bought the crap that society was trying so hard to sell them. We didn't come by these ideals because PJ said so in his movie "Zeitgeist" or "Zeitgeist - Addendum" or the latest "Zeitgeist - Moving Forward". Or because JF makes nice drawings of buildings and good arguments for a conversion to a resource based economy. No good reader, these people simply articulated better what a vast many of us were already thinking and feeling. They were just better at expressing it.

Now, having said all that, also understand that I am not a "follower" in the traditional sense. I am not here to convert anyone or sell anything. Either you understand that life is about to undergo a major transformation and accept it and prepare yourself mentally for it, or you don't. Either way, it will change nothing for me.

So, when you get on your blog or homepage or wherever and start spewing hate speech like "PJ is a CIA plant" and "you are all being used by the New World Order" blah blah blah, understand that this movement is NOT about PJ or JF or any one person. If tomorrow either or both of them were to disappear, nothing would change for me. I would still hold the same beliefs, I would still be out giving Free Hugs on Sunday or educating the youngsters, etc.

Quit trying to personalize the movement and then trying to take down PJ's character or JF ideas.

The reason most of us are in TZM is because we're independent critical thinkers and we don't just blindly follow any one person or believe everything someone says.
So, to those that would purport that REB could never work, blah blah blah, I say, "Step up or shut up". If you have a better plan, let's hear it. Otherwise, go back to the bar and leave those of us that want to finish building a lifeboat peace and quiet to do it.
To the religious people that want to "save my soul" or "cleanse my sins", I say the same thing I told the woman who tried to preach to me one morning at the bus stop. "I don't know what evil wicked things you've done in your life and now perhaps regret, but I am not a sinner and I have nothing to be saved from. Kindly get help for your pathological condition."
To those that want to elicit feelings of patriotism or nationalism, your views are outdated, we live in a global village. So put the guns down and unstrap the explosives from your chest, and let's get on with the task of building and constructing rather than destroying.
So, why did I join TZM? Because they are my tribe, they understand the world is not right and want to help shape it for the better. It is not predicated on PJ or JF but rather the Zeitgeist.

Zeitgeist III - Moving Forward

What an amazing premiere!! What a fantastic turn-out at the Bloor Cinema!! 820 minds newly blown wide open by this very powerful movie.
The Toronto chapter of The Zeitgeist Movement did an outstanding job of putting this local premiere together. From the strategic postering and promotions, to securing the largest independent theatre in Toronto. What an amazing group of people!! I am so thrilled to be associated with such a giving, nurturing and supportive group of humans with a goal and vision for a better future for all of humanity. Sure, we like challenges.

There is an encore presentation this Saturday January 22 at 8:30pm at The Underground Cinema on Spadina and we again anticipate a "sold-out" crowd. (As is typical with all our events, it's Pay What You Like).
